Our mission
Our Workshops
-
We live in a litigious society. Too many people want to sue the police. Plaintiffs find legitimate ways to get money from the department, the officer or government on issues related to constitutional rights, use of force, negligence, and failure to train or supervise. Learn to reduce liability in this workshop.

Interviewing is a process that requires practice. You, as the interviewer, must know what you are trying to accomplish. You need to be aware of all your senses and must be able to induce a reaction.
-
Writing matters! Words matter. Even though some of your reports won’t make it to a trial, every report will lead to a decision about your arrests, treatment of arrestees, and ultimately confessions and/or convictions. This workshop is different than many other writing workshops in that we focus on storytelling and the support that can be used in court, rather than just fulfilling your agency’s requirement to document an incident.

Experience on the street has already taught you much of what you need to observe. Still, you can improve your powers of observation by simply being more aware of the types of things you need to observe. You will construct a list of observables by learning from each other’s personal experiences as well as learning from the instructor. You will then put your new list of observables to the test in practical exercises on the street. It is one thing to know what to observe, but it is another to systematically force yourself to observe. Develop an observation method that works for you.

With the 30 by 30 campaign heating up across law enforcement agencies across America, it’s important we discuss the unique challenges that women in law enforcement leadership face and address them head on. This proactive, self-empowered approach will provide both men and women the insight, tools, and paradigm to create successful women leaders in law enforcement.

In areas where many speak Spanish, you will want sufficient Spanish language skills to be able to interview Spanish speaking witnesses, victims, and suspects. Ideally, you should take a minimum of two semesters of college Spanish that is oriented toward law enforcement. This, however, is not a very quick fix for your needs, so you would greatly benefit by taking this series of five four-hour workshops on essential Spanish for law enforcement, which focuses on vocabulary, rather than grammar.
